In Case of a Rainy Day...

Even though the sun mostly shines in Budapest, the days are becoming darker and darker as winter is slowly approaching. And let’s face it – the sun doesn’t always shine. But don’t worry; there is no reason to be upset because there are always things to do and discover in Budapest, no matter if the weather is good or bad! Today we will share some examples of what the members of Budapest Must Haves would love to do on a rainy day.

Take a stroll in the Great Market Hall Surround yourself with fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, spices and sweets in the enormous Market Hall. This is the largest and oldest indoor market in Budapest. The 10 000 square meter Market Hall building consists of three floors so there is a lot of ground to cover and you can easily wonder around for hours in this place. The beautiful building and buzzing atmosphere by it self is worth a visit.

Race against time in The Trap - One could of course visit the Trap even if the sun does shine, but since the concept of the whole activity revolves around you and your friends being trapped in a room without windows or any other kind of daylight, the activity is extra suiting when the weather is bad. So what is the Trap and why would you pay for getting locked into a room where the only goal is to get out again?

The Trap is pretty much what it sounds like; you get trapped in a room and your task is to get out within 60 minutes by solving different puzzles and tasks. The different rooms have different themes and degree of difficulty so there really is something for everyone! One room fits a team of 5 persons so it is perfect to go with a few friends. You will definitely have a great time!

Become educated at the House of Terror – Get your historical facts straight at this horrifying but capturing museum. The building used to be the place for cross-examination and torture back in the day but is now a museum portraying the fascist and communist dictatorial regimes in the 20th century and is furthermore a memorial honouring the victims of these regimes. The historical atmosphere and the overwhelming stories about the past will leave no one untouched.

Get lost in WestEnd City Center – What is more perfect on a rainy day than to stroll in and out of stores all located under the same roof? WestEnd City Center is a four-floor shopping mall with more than 400 stores and services. You can find most of what you need in here as the stores offer everything from clothes, shoes and cosmetics to electronics, interior design and sport equipment etcetera. There is a big food court with several different restaurants as well as a big cinema complex.

These are just some of the many activities you could entertain yourself with on a cloudy day, of course Budapest has a lot more to offer – don’t let bad weather stop you!
